About Quinaldic Acid
It is a crystalline acid obtained especially by oxidation of quinaldine and used in chemical analysis. Quinaldic acid are believed to act as chelating agents that can coordinate with and stabilize metal ions and prevent the anodic dissolution of copper from occurring. Quinaldic acid has been shown to inhibit proinsulin synthesis in pancreatic islet cells.
