About Methanol

Methanol a light, volatile, colourless, flammable liquid with a distinctive alcoholic odour. It is a chemical and the simplest alcohol, with the formula CH4O. Small amounts of methanol are present in normal, healthy human individuals. Today, methanol is mainly produced industrially by hydrogenation of carbon monoxide.

Methanol is primarily used as an industrial solvent for inks, resins, adhesives, and dyes. Methanol is primarily converted to formaldehyde, which is widely used in many areas, especially polymers. It is also used as a solvent in the manufacture of cholesterol, streptomycin, vitamins, hormones, and other pharmaceuticals.
