About Acetophenone
Acetophenone is colorless, viscous organic compound which is the simplest aromatic ketone. In instructional laboratories, acetophenone is converted to styrene in a two step process that illustrates the reduction of carbonyls using hydride and the dehydration of alcohols. Acetophenone is used for fragrance in soaps and perfumes, as a flavoring agent in foods, and as a solvent for plastics and resins.
