About 2,4,6-Trimethylpyridine
It is an organic compound which belongs to the heterocycles. It consists of a pyridine ring substituted with three methyl groups. 2,4,6-Trimethylpyridine is used in organic syntheses, by binding the formed hydrogen halides. It is an reagent used for various synthetic preparations such as the synthesis of methylated pyridines by three-componet catalytic condensation of acetylene, acetone and ammonia. It is useful in dehydrohalogenation reactions and acts as a solvent for the cleavage of hindered esters by anhydrous lithium iodide.
