About Vinyl Acetate Monomer
Vinyl acetate is an organic compound that is a colorless liquid with Sweet, pleasant odor but may be sharp and irritating. Vinyl acetate monomer (VAM) is the acetate ester of vinyl alcohol. It is produced by the reaction of ethylene and acetic acid with oxygen in the presence of a palladium catalyst.
Vinyl acetate monomer is an important intermediate used in the production of resins and polymers for paints & coatings, textile finishes, adhesives, glues & sealants, paper coatings, elastomers, binders, and films. It is used as a monomer in the production of polyvinyl acetate and polyvinyl alcohol.
