About Propionic acid
Propionic acid is a naturally occurring carboxylic acid that is a colorless, oily liquid, moderately toxic with a pungent and unpleasant odor.
Propionic acid is used in the manufacture of fine chemical intermediates, rubber chemicals, emulsions, and solvents for coating formulations, herbicides, artificial fruit flavors, and pharmaceuticals. It is used as a preservative for both animal feed and human food. It is also useful as an intermediate in the production of other chemicals, especially polymers.
