About n-Butyric Acid
Butyric acid is clear colorless liquid with an unpleasant odour with the chemical formula C3H7COOH. It is a fatty acid occurring in the form of esters in animal fats and plant oils. Butyric acid is produced by hydroformylation from propene and syngas, forming butyraldehyde, which is oxidised to the final product.
