About Isobutyl Alcohol
Isobutyl alcohol is colorless, oily liquid with a penetrating, disagreeable odor and sweet taste. Isobutanol is produced by the carbonylation of propylene. Propanol and methanol can be reacted to produce isobutyl alcohol via Guerbet condensation.
The main applications of Isobutyl Alcohol are as varnishes and precursors to esters, which are useful solvents. It is used as a solvent, in making other chemicals, and as a flavoring.
