About DMF
Dimethylformamide (DMF) is a colorless liquid that is miscible with both water and many organic liquids. DMF is a polar organic solvent widely used as a solvent for chemical reactions. It is prepared by combining methyl formate and dimethylamine or by reaction of dimethylamine with carbon monoxide.
DMF is also used as a solvent in peptide coupling for pharmaceuticals, in the development and production of pesticides, and in the manufacture of adhesives, synthetic leathers, fibers, films, and surface coatings. In the petrochemical industry DMF is used for the purification of acetylene from ethylene and butadiene from C4 streams.
