About Cyclohexane
Cyclohexane is a colourless, volatile, and flammable liquid with the formula C6H12. It is an alicyclic hydrocarbon comprising a ring of six carbon atoms. It is produced by hydrogenation of benzene in the presence of a Raney nickel catalyst.
Cyclohexane is mainly used for the industrial production of adipic acid and caprolactam, which are precursors to nylon. It is used in the manufacture of nylon, lacquers, paints and varnishes and as a solvent in cleaning and degreasing operations.
