About Cresylic Acid
The mixture of cresols obtained from coal tar is called cresylic acid. Cresylic acid is a mixture of coal tar or petroleum byproduct phenols, disinfectant, Highly toxic by all routes.
It is used in phenolic resin, electrical insulation paint, tricresyl phosphate, dyes, disinfectants, surfactants, flotation agents, lubricating oil additives, enamel solvents. Cresylic Acid is used in wire enamelling. It is also used in thermosetting resins, disinfectants, paint strippers and road surfacing. Used as a preservative, cold plastic plasticizer, cracking dispersant and solvent in the production process of Sebacic acid.
