About Benzene
Benzene (also called cyclohexatriene) is an organic chemical compound with the molecular formula C6H6. It is a natural constituent of crude oil and is one of the elementary petrochemicals. It evaporates into the air very quickly and dissolves slightly in water.
It is used primarily as a solvent in the chemical and pharmaceutical industries, as a starting material and an intermediate in the synthesis of numerous chemicals, and in gasoline. Benzene is used to make plastics, synthetic fibers, resins, rubber lubricants, dyes, detergents and pesticides.
