About Benzoyl Peroxide

Benzoyl peroxide is a chemical compound which is a white granular solid which is soluble in acetone, ethanol, and many other organic solvents but poorly soluble in water. It can be prepared from the reaction between benzoyl chloride and hydrogen peroxide. Benzoyl Peroxide is a peroxide with antibacterial, irritant, keratolytic, comedolytic, and anti-inflammatory activity.

Benzoyl peroxide is an oxidizer, which is principally used as in the production of polymers. As a medication, benzoyl peroxide is mostly used to treat acne, either alone or in combination with other treatments. Benzoyl peroxide is also used in the plastics industry and for bleaching flour, hair, and textiles.
